An open letter to you explaining choices made to meet the demands of declining revenues for library services while demand for those services is on the increase.
BROWNIE BAKEOFF POSTPONED! Due to the expected bad weather, the bakeoff will be on Wednesday, February 24th instead of Wednesday, February 10th. It will still be at 7 pm in the main library's community room.
Make your favorite brownie recipe and bring in two dozen bite-sized pieces of it to be shared and judged!
Bring ten copies of the recipe you baked for the exchange, noting if the brownie contains any dairy, nut, soy, wheat, or egg ingredients to alert people who may have allergies to those things.
The top three winners will take home cash prizes based on the ruling of 3 local celebrity judges:
1st Place--$75
2nd Place--$50
3rd Place--$25
While we are waiting for the results, we’ll have board games available!
Rules:
Bakers and exchange participants must be at least 18 years of age, and cannot be professional bakers or pastry chefs.
Treats can’t be store-bought, but can contain a pre-packaged brownie mix.
Each person may enter only once.
You MUST pre-register by Monday, February 22nd to be able to win prize money. There is a 30 person limit, and you must be present to win.
Brownies will be judged using a 1-10 point scale (with 10 being the best) on taste, recipe originality and appearance.
You don't have to be a Waterford resident to enter!
Nothing says love like sushi--candy sushi that is. See how well you can mold candy into eye-pleasing, sushi-like, edible treats. Participants will be allowed to eat their end results.

It is 1939. Lavender—La to her friends—decides to flee London, not only to avoid German bombs but also to escape the memories of her shattered marriage. The peace and solitude of the small town she settles in are therapeutic . . . at least at first. As the war drags on, La is in need of some diversion and wants to boost the town's morale, so she organizes an amateur orchestra, drawing musicians from the village and the local RAF base. Among the strays she corrals is Feliks, a shy, proper Polish refugee who becomes her prized recruit—and the object of feelings she thought she'd put away forever.
