Build a Better Book List - Tips on How To

Ways to keep track of what you’ve read and what you want to read:

Goodreads.com  https://www.goodreads.com/  a favorite tool of most of our librarians.  Create an account and then connect with friends who use goodreads.com. You can see which books your friends are reading, and track the books you're reading, have read, and want to read.

Librarything.com  http://www.librarything.com/  a tool/website similar to Goodreads.com

My Reading Log  https://readinglog.info  or access from link in our library’s Enterprise Catalog on the left side of the home screen. A simple tool to keep track books you’ve read and want to read. No connections with friends.

A spreadsheet of your own devising, perhaps using google “sheets” if you have a gmail account.

A simple notebook (or multiple notebooks, if you read a lot!)

For Download Destination, hoopla, and OneClick Digital, use the "favorites" or "wish list" feature to keep track of what you want to read.

Where/How to get suggestions for good books to read:

NoveList (online library database available to you through our website) another favorite tool of our librarians.  Has author read-alike articles, award winners, and more. And is a great way to find out the order of the books in a series. Go here http://www.waterfordmi.gov/577/Online-Databases and pick NoveList.

Goodreads.com  https://www.goodreads.com/  If you’ve created an account and entered books you’ve read and want to read, it will give you recommendations. Also can get ideas by seeing what your friends have read or are currently reading.

Librarything.com  http://www.librarything.com  Create an account, and it can do many of the same things that goodreads.com can do.

Book Page (monthly magazine/newspaper) you can pick up in the library

The Library’s Enterprise Catalog – when you’re at the main details page for a book you’ve  looked up, take a look at the sidebar on the right side of the screen.
